Christmas Temp Work

ChristmasBeing a Christmas Temp is a good way to meet new people and earn some extra money over Christmas.  We employ over 1500 people of all ages and demographics.  Some of our Christmas Temps find permanent work with us after Christmas, so it can also be a great way to ‘get your foot in the door’ and, with the training and experience you receive, you’ll learn great new skills too!

What do we offer you?

When do we advertise our Christmas temp roles?


We start advertising these roles on our careers website around September with roles starting in store in October, November or December.  Roles usually end just after Xmas or in January, depending on the stores needs.

How do you apply for a Christmas Temp role?


The best way to know when we are recruiting for Christmas Temps is to register your details on our careers website, specifying the locations where you can work.  When the role is advertised you’ll receive a job alert email, inviting you to now apply.  Once we’ve received your application we screen it against the requirements of the role and forward suitable applications to stores that match your location selections.  The store will then decide who they would like to interview.

So what exactly do Christmas Temps do?


We have 2 main Team Member roles in our stores; Nightfill and Shop Floor

Nightfill Team Members unpack stock and replenish the shelves and merchandise the displays.  They start work close to or after the store’s closing time when it has the least impact on our customers.  

For Nightfill roles you’ll need to

  • have a good eye for detail
  • work quickly and accurately
  • have good communication skills
  • be available to work between the hours of 4pm and 6am*

*You need to be over the age of 16 to apply for a Nightfill role as people under the age of 16 cannot legally work from 10pm to 6am.
 
Shop Floor Team Members work when the store is open.  They help our customers find what they’re looking for, answer product enquiries, and can also work on the checkouts.  They’re also responsible for making sure the store is clean and tidy and displays are well presented.

For Shop Floor roles we look for people who

  • are well presented and have good communication skills
  • are friendly and will go the extra mile to assist customers
  • have a good eye for detail
  • can work quickly and accurately
