Children's Health Month

When kids are sick they require extra special care and attention as their condition can deteriorate very quickly. A sick child may be quieter than normal, sleepy, less active, need more cuddles and may be off their food. Here are some symptoms which require referral to a doctor:

- Persistent pain or a fever of more than 39 degrees after 24 hour
- Has both vomiting and diarrhoea
- Persistent cough or wheeze
- Is difficult to wake
- Suffers a convulsion or fit
- Feels too hot or too cold
- Continues to vomit for more than 24 hours
- Develops a rash or stiff neck
- Has a runny discharge coming from the ears or rubs the ears
- Has more than two episodes of diarrhoea in 24 hours
- Cries unusually for more than an hour or is pale and floppy
