AKAI Air Conditioner/Heat Pump FAQs

What is Inverter technology?
An Inverter System runs the majority of the time at a reduced speed, giving you a more consistent room temperature, lower running noise and most importantly up to 30% reduction in running cost. With conventional Air Conditioners, the compressor is either ON (working at 100% capacity) or OFF. Inverter Air Conditioners can vary the speed and adjust their working capacity to maintain the set room temperature. The compressor speed is dependant upon how much heating or cooling is required to reach your desired temperature setting.
What size is correct for my home or room?
Refer to the “Sizing Guide” below. You can also find this on the packaging box of the AKAI air conditioner you are purchasing. For any additional questions regarding the correct unit for your home please call our customer helpline (0800 836 761) or a qualified professional.
How do I operate it?
All AKAI Air Conditioners come with an easy to use full function remote control, along with a user-friendly instruction manual on how to operate the system.
Are they reliable?
Yes, if used in accordance with the instructions and used in a room that the particular unit is designed for.
How much do they cost to run?
A good guide is to multiply the Kilowatt input figure (displayed on energy label) of the unit by your electricity cost per Kilowatt hour.
Are they noisy?
The indoor unit runs at 42dB(A) (decibels), which is quieter than an electric toothbrush. The outdoor unit runs at 52dB(A) (decibels) which is considered to be quieter than a washing machine.
What maintenance is required?
Cleaning of the filter is required 1-2 times per year.
How much will the installation cost and how do I get a quote for my house?
Installation cost depends on several factors including the distance between the indoor and outdoor units, the mounting and positioning of the outdoor unit, if the building is a single or double storey dwelling and the size of the units installed. For installation enquiries please call: 0508 123 108
How long would they usually take to install?
Installation usually takes 1 day to complete. It will take longer if wiring is required to cater for a larger air conditioning unit.
Where can I place the indoor unit?
Usually high up on the inside wall in a position in the room allowing efficient distribution of the air. The installer will advise on this.
Where can I place the outdoor unit?
Outside, generally mounted on the external wall or on the ground. Dependent on size and what is practical in a specific installation.
