EV Coming through
In 2019, we officially transitioned 30% of our passenger fleet (the kind of cars our regional managers use to get around) to Electric Vehicles (EVs), which translates to 72 vehicles. As soon as possible within the next two years, 100% of our passenger fleet vehicles will be transitioned to EV, following our commitment to no longer purchase vehicles with internal combustion engines.
This move has a huge impact on our emissions and the future of EV ownership in New Zealand. When more big companies like us make the switch, it opens up the second-hand EV market down the road, which means that more Kiwis will be able to afford access to EVs.
We also have an existing network of 24 EV chargers available for free at The Warehouse stores around the country. Over the next 12 months, we will be adding to this with eight rapid charge units being installed from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South. Find your nearest charger here.
