Maya in Spring
Leigh Finlayson, Maya Womenswear Buyer, explains the range and its exciting Spring Launch.
Meet Leigh Finlayson
We’ve listened closely to our customers over the last 12 months and Maya has had some amazing developments and changes to meet your needs. The range is now designed in-house and extends to a size 20, even a 28 in some pieces. We’ve just launched our Spring range and it’s more affordable than ever!
Who’s the Maya customer?
The Maya customer is a contemporary shopper who likes value for money items! She loves shopping and she likes smart and casual styling - with a buy now, wear now attitude!
Describe the Maya Style
She has modern, smart, casual style – soon to be with a sophisticated edge! Coming soon you will see a step change in the Maya range that has a younger feel to it. Shapes are based off best sellers and on trend styling that flatter the figure.
How do you decide what trends to pick up on?
The Buying and Design teams work together and decide what the trends are and what we think are the most appropriate pieces for our customer. This is based off what has worked well in the past and what we think the best commercial trends are.
How do the Buying and Design teams work together to build a range?
The Buying team brings in the knowledge of what works and what doesn’t, as far as fabrics, fit, styling, colour and print go. The Design team brings the trend and colour elements to the range by researching current trends and creating a range that suits our contemporary customer.
What sizes does the range go up to?
The range goes from size 10-20. We have now taken parts of the Garage and Maya ranges up to Kate Madison sizes, which go up to size 28.
How has the brand changed and developed over the last 12 months?
With the design team on board, we have created cohesive ranges that can be mixed and matched. We have kept the feel of the range smart casual, but have added elements of foil in prints, for example, to give the range a lift. We have taken learnings from our winning shapes and updated prints that are very current and on trend.
