The magnifier lights work well and the unit is quite well made for the price. However, I am not sure how the makers quantify a 3x magnification. I would assume that this means that the item being viewd will appear 3 times bigger under the glass. Unfortunately I found there to be little difference and as I boughtb this to look for eggs and larvae in my bee hives which are sometimes difficultn to see on a dulln day, I found it's effectiveness nvery dissapointing.

Fantastic device, hubby uses it when changing batteries and cleaning his hearing aids also brilliant for crosswords.
There are so many uses for this, l will have to get another one so we can have one each.
