Instructions
1. Remove the plastic parts from the opening of the tissue box
2. Sandpaper around the opening edge of the box to get rid of little cardboard pieces that will end up getting dragged around all over the box when you paint
3. Paint the top and bottom of the box in thin layers. Use 2-3 coats to cover the pattern on the box depending how light or dark your paint is. Let dry between coats.
*TIP* - use a hair dryer to dry faster in between coats!
4. Paint the paper towel tube any colour you like. This will be the neck of your guitar. Set aside to dry while you make the rest of your guitar. *TIP* Using the three primary colours, you can mix up your own custom paints. Explore what it looks like to use a complementary colour palette or a monochromatic colour palette on your guitar.
5. If you decided to use card or wrapping paper to decorate with, measure a strip that will wrap around all sides of the guitar body, and cut your paper to size. You can also paint it instead! We chose to use gold glitter paper and create a design around the guitar opening and in the corners.
6. Once you have decorated your box, hot glue 2 popsicle sticks together for added height, and then glue a pair of sticks at each end of the guitar body for the strings to lay across.
7. Now your guitar is built, it’s time to decorate! Use tape on the neck of the guitar or draw on them to mark frets.
8. Use pom poms to make tuning pegs, and decorate the body with stickers and gems. Now all you need to do is get strumming!
